Demagogue - Design for the Underdog

We established Demagogue Design this year to help people like ourselves who have an idea that they are passionate about. In 2009 we imparted on the long but rewarding journey of setting up our own business in Aberdeen, Marischal Tours. We were lucky enough to have collected an array of skills and experience prior to starting our venture, and along with the kind help of our friends we were able to successfully do this at a minimal cost. We did, however, notice how difficult it was for people starting out on this path to gain the support and assistance that is so vital in the early stages without paying a large sum of money for this (we ourselves were quoted £2000 just for a simple website!).

We were also aware ourselves that we had our own personal vision of how we wanted our image to be portrayed to customers. It seemed to us that many of the companies offering design services are a little impersonal, costly and tend to follow a 'mode' of how things 'should' look, following trends instead of making them.

As with many people who set up their own business after 6 months of running our first service, Aberdeen Ghost walks, we began to think about pursuing another venture. This time, however, we wanted to establish a service that could help people like ourselves. From our own experience and speaking to others we are fully aware of the importance of making your business stand out from the crowd. Combining our own knowledge, experience and passion to help others we decided to set up Demagogue Design. In doing so we hope to offer you a comprehensive design package that provides a quality personal service at an affordable cost.

I learned my web design skills primarily from taking a single web design course at the University of Aberdeen to compliment my study towards an MA (Hons) in History and Philosophy. Since then I have developed skills by undertaking various web projects including the development and maintenance of the site for myself and partners first venture. rachael Graduating this year with an MA Management Studies at the University of Aberdeen, I have a gained a range of skills and experience both academically and practically in the context of marketing and business development. For the past year I have been working as the Student Marketing Manager for the University of Aberdeen's Careers Service, aiding them in developing a strong brand image and communicating their services across campus to students. I am very passionate about the work that I do and endeavour to maintain a professional and understanding relationship with everyone that I work with.
